Energy Saving Tip for Today

February 24, 2011

Energy dollars could be going right out your door!  The Department of Energy’s energysavers.com website says:  “New exterior doors often fit and insulate better than older types. If you have older doors in your home, replacing them might be a good investment, resulting in lower heating and cooling costs. If you’re building a new home, you should consider buying the most energy-efficient doors possible.”  We recently replaced the door in this photo at 110 Sandy Ridge Rd in Kitty Hawk, NC.   There are recommendations on the Energy Savers website for installing weatherstripping if replacing doors is not in your budget.  You can check it out at:  http://www.energysavers.gov/your_home/insulation_airsealing/index.cfm/mytopic=11280
